Melaleuca (Tea Tree), the MIRACLE OIL!

Melaleuca. At first the smell can be quite pungent and overwhelming. At least this is what I initially thought. Now I will not go anywhere without it!

Melaleuca is the Essential Oil of healing boundaries, both metaphorically and physically. Diffusing and inhaling the steam of this oil helps release “parasitic” relationships, both energetically and materially. I have actually SEEN Melaleuca work miracles in THREE recent situations (one with myself and 2 with my family members).

The main reason I love Melaleuca is that is clears up almost any skin issue I have encountered, in humans and in dogs!

One of my loved ones had a “Toenail” fungus (basically a dark-looking toenail) that was not clearing up. Three (3!) different doctors looked at this issue and some prescribed creams, but nothing worked! Finally, one MD suggested Melaleuca oil. Within two weeks the toenail was white and clean, and the “root cause” was handled. The parasite was “killed” and the toe fungus never returned!

The second skin situation was with my own eczema. I’m lucky to have always had good skin, however a few years ago my body developed a sort of (invisible) eczema all over that sometimes itched horribly! Long story short, I started integrating Melaleuca Oil into my Epsom Salt + Baking Soda Baths (make sure you emulsify the oil and salt/soda before pouring into your tub!), and mixing a few drops of this oil into my face and body oils. My skin is now free and clear of all itching and eczema, and I attribute this clearing to consistent use (and now obsession with) this miracle oil!

What really did it for me - and inspired me to write this blog about Melaleuca - was that the oil healed my Dog’s skin issues! I have a 9.5 year old GoldenDoodle, and for the past 1.5 years have been dealing with “Hot Spots” that (the breeder says) come from older age. After trying antibiotics and steroids, I was using Vetericyn Spray (recommended by the pet store and her breeder) to combat the “Whac-A-Mole” appearance of these bloody irritations on her skin. Tired of the daily "battle” with these wounds, and of seeing my pup picking at them, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I’ve been a Wellness Advocate for doTerra for the past 2 years, however, have not really used many of the oils on my canine (other than a little bit of Lavender + Cedarwood oil to calm her down once in a while). However two weeks ago, as these Hot Spots seemed to be coming on stronger and stronger, I decided to first try Lavender Oil on the wounds. I put 20 drops in a spray bottle, filled the remainder with distilled water and sprayed this on her affected areas before bedtime. Within 24 hours the sores started to get better, but not heal completely. A few days later, after verifying I could use tea tree oil on my dog, I added 20 drops of Melaleuca to the bottle (combining it with the Lavender that was already in the spray bottle). I also increased the application to twice per day. Since then, NO MORE HOT SPOTS HAVE APPEARED and the remainder of what she had are HEALING! Additionally, I believe the Melaleuca oil treated the “root cause”, killing whatever “parasites” were on her causing this irritation! Her energy level has also increased, and she is no longer picking at herself - amen! 🙏🏻

I had to share all of this, because, if you’re dealing with a skin issue, I urge you to try Melaleuca! If you’re using it on a pet or child (or have older, thinner skin) make sure you dilute the oil first. It is actually good for everyone to test a spot on the inner wrist before going into full use of the product!

AND, make sure it is PURE THERAPEUTIC GRADE (not cut with anything).

The properties of Melaleuca oil are:

  • Anti fungal

  • Antimicrobial

  • Antiseptic

  • Bactericidal

  • Expectorant

  • Stimulant

Melaleuca oil can be used for:

  • Relief for Seasonal and Environmental Threats.

    • Place a few drops of Melaleuca in a large bowl of boiling water and place your face above it, cover your head with a towel and inhale the “steam” of the Melaleuca oil.

    • Make a hot compress with a couple drops of Melaleuca, put over chest or belly.

    • Take 2-3 drops of Melaleuca internally with water, or;

    • Take 2-3 drops of Melaleuca and mix it with coconut carrier oil in a veggie capsule and take internally - your sickness will be “blasted” out!

  • Treatment of styes, chalazions and other eye issues. Make a hot water soaked / wrung washcloth compress with 2-3 drops of the oil. Rest and hold on the eye until it cools down, repeat. Make sure you dilute the oil enough so it does not sting or get in your eye. (If it does by mistake get in your eye, flush with water - the oil will clear fast - and your eye issue will probably feel more “healed”.)

  • Keep Melaleuca your Travel Bag, for keeping your Immune System supported while on the road. (It is no wonder a dear friend asked me to bring her a fresh bottle of Melaleuca Oil during her residency in India when I visited!).

  • Melaleuca works extremely well in all climates, both hot and cold! So no matter if you're in the tropics, or high in the mountains, Melaleuca will work for you!

  • Sunburn Take 3 drops of Melaleuca, mix with coconut carrier oil and apply to the affected area.

  • Topical Pain Reliever - Soothes muscle pain and soreness - make a hot compress with a washcloth and a few drops of Melaleuca and place over the affected area 2-3 times per day for 5-10 minutes each session.

  • Boils - Make a hot compress with a couple drops of Melaleuca to help draw out the pus. Continue to use around the area once everything has been dispelled from the wound.

  • Burns - use 2-3 drops of Melaleuca (combined with Lavender if you have it) on a COLD compress. Do ASAP after the incident happens. Repeat 2-3 times per days until you feel and see healing happening.

  • Bronchitis - since Melaleuca is an expectorant, it can help clear up clogged lungs and coughs.

    • Make a hot compress with a washcloth and a few drops of Melaleuca and place over your chest 2-3 times per day for 5-10 minutes each session.

    • Place a few drops of Melaleuca in a large bowl of boiling water and place your face above it, cover your head with a towel and inhale the “steam” of the Melaleuca oil.

    • Diffuse Melaleuca in your bedroom and around your home day and night for cleaner air.

  • Cold Sores - just apply one drop “neat” (directly, not diluted) for 2-3 days and it will be gone!

  • Fights Bacteria - anywhere, anytime. Use for mold and mildew prevention (make a spray bottle with 20 drops + distilled water, leave one in your kitchen and one in your bathrooms to use when you wipe things down).

  • Clears up Acne - after cleansing and tone your face with a spray of Melaleuca and distilled water. (Take a 4 oz bottle, then put 20 drops Melaleuca and fill the rest with distilled water.) Use morning and evening.

VERY IMPORTANT! Always make sure you use Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils (like doTerra) that are sourced directly from the plant growers and NOT mixed with chemicals! The moment you pollute your Pure Oils with synthetic compounds their healing qualities vanish! (And most Essential Oils sold in drugstores/pharmacies, and even in retail stores are mixed with some man-made substance.) Over time, with practice, if you smell enough Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils, you will be able to tell immediately if an oil has been compromised!
